Below is an example of the prejudicial effect of imposing certain
identification rules on people in order for them to pursue everyday
tasks. It is an extract detailing requirements for potential employees before they can be allowed to work.
The current restrictions are already severe, but much less invasive than the requirements of the ID card programme. What
this means is that the Labour government, by continuing with the
ID card scheme, will exacerbate this further and make it so that it is
very difficult to live your life if you don't accept the terms they
impose on you by denying you access to work and benefits, among other
things. There are currently many UK citizens who, whilst acting
perfectly legally and reasonably, are unable to take employment under
these totalitarian conditions. I have discussed this
matter with Jobcentreplus staff and the attitude that I encountered was
that this constitutes a failure by the Jobseeker, not the employer, and
that it is up to you to fit in with their discriminatory activities.
